Finning Power Systems introduces new Critical Power Module UPS
Finning Power Systems has introduced a new Caterpillar Critical Power Module (CPM) UPS range that is claimed to be the industry's lowest cost operating system.
The new CPM is rated at 250kVA up to 1000kVA. Using flywheel technology it achieves the smallest UPS package available, reducing the installation footprint.
The system is integrated seamlessly with a Caterpillar generator set, to provide a higher total electrical load capability. In addition, an optional start module can be installed to help increase generator set starting reliability in an emergency standby power configuration.
By cancelling harmonic distortion, the new CAT® Critical Power Module operates seamlessly with generator sets to provide a higher total electrical load capability without oversizing the generator set. It effectively isolates the generator set from block loads and transients, and can improve its fault clearing capabilities.
Finning cures hospital power requirements
Finning Power Systems has supplied a CHP solution to provide the prime source of power for Rotherham Hospital.
With sustainable waste and energy solutions of key importance to the hospital trust, a combined heat and power (CHP) solution was specified where heat produced as a by-product could be fed back into the hospital's existing heating system.
After just 30 days of operation, tests showed an overall energy efficiency of the CHP installation to be 90.2%.
Featuring a containerised Caterpillar G3516B gas engine with an electrical output of 1.1 MWe, the CHP solution from Finning Power Systems (Finning) uses heat exchangers to harvest heat from the engine block water jacket and exhaust gases to produce hot water.
